Areas of specialty and approach to treatment
Lia likes to integrate her expertise in Naturopathy with her background in Psychology and focus on the direct connection between gut health, mental health and overall health and wellbeing for her patients. She has a strong passion for children’s health and looks at the way in which gut health contributes to neurological issues such as autism, ADD and ADHD, behavioural disorders, sensory perception disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and anxiety and depression. Having a young family herself, she is experienced helping kids who suffer with allergies, asthma, ear infections, eczema, psoriasis, current acute or chronic recurring infections, general low immunity, tonsillitis, and glandular fever.
Educating families and her patients is a priority during consultations. Lia believes that when patients understand the cause of their health issues and the way in which Naturopathy addresses the person as a whole, it empowers them to make changes that are long lasting. Treatment plans are personalised for each of her patients, depending on their medical history and current symptom presentation and will prescribe accordingly from a range of herbal medicines, nutritional supplements, homeopathy and dietary changes.
Lia also has a special interest in autoimmune disease in both children and adults and uses dietary changes as a foundation to bring about balance to the immune system. Her specific interest in this area is Hashimoto’s disease.
She enjoys treating acute and chronic health conditions in both men and woman, as well as babies, children and teenagers.
The following are some of the health problems that Lia’s patients come to see her for:
• Neurological issues – autism, ADD & ADHD, behavioural disorders, sensory perception disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder
• Acute conditions in children such as tonsillitis, glandular fever and ear infections
• Digestive Disorders such as IBS, IBD, bloating and constipation, SIBO and other gut infections
• Mental Health Issues – anxiety, depression and stress
• Immune dysfunction – autoimmune diseases and frequent recuring infections
• Thyroid health
• Hormonal health – woman’s hormonal issues
• Skin problems – acne, psoriasis, eczema
Lia’s approach to treatment is based both on traditional knowledge as well as scientific research, allowing her to formulate treatment protocols that have exceptional results for her patients.
