Tarryn is a highly sought-after massage therapist who truly believes in the importance of massage therapy and hands-on-therapy in helping to maintain optimal wellbeing. Tarryn has over 10 years experience as a remedial massage therapist, working both in private practice and several specialised sports medicine practices. Her broad range of skills enables her to tailor a massage to every-body, from sports people and athletes, to office workers, pregnant women, the elderly, men, women, children and babies.

After completing her Diploma of Remedial Massage in 2000 at the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies, Tarryn moved to Adelaide, where she established herself in a successful private practice. While in private practice, Tarryn completed her Infant Massage Instructor training with the Infant Massage Information Service (IMIS) in 2003 and then completed a Master Trainer in Personal Training in 2005 at the Australian Institute of Fitness (AIF), which enabled her to better understand and advise her clients in stretching and resistance exercise, as well as how to help athletes and clients who exercise regularly and need sports massage. She then furthered her understanding of massage techniques by travelling to Thailand and studying Thai massage during an intensive rural village retreat.

Areas of specialty and approach to treatment

Tarryn takes an empathetic approach to client care, which is nurturing and relaxing, while being highly effective and therapeutic. She uses a variety of relaxing strokes to warm up the body and increase circulation and waste removal, before easing deeper into the muscles as the body allows. Her sensitive fingertips identify tension and trigger points in the muscle fibres, which she releases and softens during treatment. Her clients often comment that “she feels what they feel”, as she is highly experienced in identifying and treating problem-areas. In addition, she looks for holding patterns, postural problems and repetitive strains that cause chronic or repeated aches and pains in the body and as part of the treatment, she offers advice on how to correct these underlying issues.

Tarryn effectively treats a wide variety of conditions, including back and neck pain, headaches, muscular stiffness, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfers elbow, generalised chronic pain, sporting injuries, restricted movement, sciatica and scar tissue in torn or corked muscles. The release of scar tissue often results in a visible change on fresh or old scars and a marked reduction in pain. Tarryn is committed to helping her clients achieve a higher level of health with a preventative approach for clients who acknowledge the benefits of regular massage in maintaining optimal wellbeing and stress reduction. She educates her clients on preventative and self-care by prescribing exercises such as stretches, postural changes and relaxation strategies to enhance the benefits of their treatment and assist in recovery from injury.

Tarryn enjoys working with pregnant woman and assists in relieving the common ailments of pregnancy to help an expectant mother to enjoy her pregnancy. She is also an accredited infant massage instructor and conducts private sessions and workshops to teach parents how to massage their babies to help them to settle and improve their wellbeing. She was lucky enough to put this into practice with her own baby, who then grew to love massage and regularly requests it.

Tarryn tailors each massage treatment to the individual and using her wide experience, she uses a variety of specialised massage techniques, in consultation with a patient and depending on their individual needs. These massage techniques include sports massage, relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, neuromuscular technique, muscle energy technique, trigger point deactivation and lymphatic massage.

Tarryn’s caring and effective approach, combined with her extensive experience and “naturally-gifted hands” make her a highly sought-after massage therapist and a valued member of Remède’s team of practitioners.
