Qualifications and memberships
Rodger is a registered psychologist with the Western Australian Psychologists Registration Board and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), with over ten years experience in counseling.
Rodger completed his Bachelor of Psychology in 1997 and his Graduate Diploma in Education in 1998, both at the University of Western Australia, after his former career in finance.
Rodger is committed to continual learning in his field and undertakes extensive ongoing professional development with the Australian Psychological Society and attends seminars and workshops that ultimately benefit patient care. He has completed post-graduate training in drug and alcohol issues, problem gambling counselling, couples and family counselling, sexual abuse, adolescent programs, stress debriefing, trauma counselling, Veterans care, post-traumatic stress and various other areas of interest.
Rodger has worked as a psychologist within a variety of settings within the public and private sectors, including government agencies, facilitating men’s domestic violence groups and problem gambling groups and he has also worked in education as a school psychologist, in addition to private practice.
As a registered Psychologist, clients can be referred to Rodger by their GP on a Medicare ‘Mental Healthcare Plan”, which makes them eligible for a Medicare rebate on their consultations with him.

As a collaborative process, counselling can be very helpful for clients to gain an increased understanding of the issues that they see as limiting their quality of life.
Rodger seeks to work with clients to empower them to move toward a life that is full, rich and meaningful, and firmly based in the values that are important to them.

Rodger provides counselling for both couples and individuals, as well as families.
In his approach to treatment, Rodger draws from his extensive training and clinical experience and uses a number of therapeutic approaches to empower clients to make meaningful change. The forms of treatment approaches that his clients find very helpful include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, aspects of Narrative Therapy and values based approaches.
At all times, Rodger remains committed to working with his clients with compassion and respect for their individual needs and circumstances. His approach is empathetic, considered and warm, which helps his clients to feel comfortable to openly discuss their issues and he treats client-confidentiality with absolute care.
